The Sliding Doors that Sold Me on My New California Home

I sort of lucked out and ended up in San Diego through a series of events in my life that were less than ideal. A divorce and subsequent job relocation brought me here, where no one knew my name and I could get a fresh do-over. At first, I was skeptical. But, each time I stepped outdoors and took in the scenery and the energy in this city, I became more and more convinced that I belonged.

After about five years of renting, I decided to lay some roots. I’d worked for my employer (the one I relocated with) for nearly 15 years at that time and San Diego, CA had become my home. The people, the food scene, the outdoor activities—it had all gotten into my blood and I was ready to make life here more permanent.

The search began. I didn’t know what I wanted but I knew I would know it when I saw it. At the time (roughly two years ago, now), it was just my cat and me. I knew I wanted at least two bedrooms, so my sister could have a place to stay when she visited. I knew I wanted a big, upgraded kitchen and new or nearly-new windows. What I didn’t know was how much I wanted multi-slide doors.

Before I found the home I now live in, I had never even heard of multi-slide doors. Then, one Wednesday afternoon, my realtor called me and asked me to meet her just down the street at a bungalow she found that she was convinced I would love.

She was right.

On the East side of the home, across the spacious living room, I saw glass. Lots and lots of glass. As it turned out, the owner had recently had multi-slide doors from Priority Doors & Windows installed to bring up the overall value of the home. I was in love. Beyond the glass was a pond and patio with flowers and benches—even a cast iron fire pit. The doors each slid open, smoothly, and had low-profile flush sills and glazed glass to keep the home from heating up in the sunlight. I was sold.

I put in an offer that day and the house was mine within 48 hours.

Needless to say, I overlooked some of the older, outdated windows in the bedroom—but I didn’t mind. I gave Priority my business a few months later; a company that could make this little bungalow so beautiful with their multi-slide doors surely had to have gorgeous window options as well. I was right. Now, my master bedroom has the loveliest bay window; a perfect spot for my books and lamp.

If you’re new here, welcome. I hope you fall in love with San Diego like I have. And, when it comes time for you to buy a home and upgrade its windows—choose Priority Doors & Windows. You’ll love them!
