You really do not have to have a huge house at the top of your budget to have your dream home. I know this because I have mine and it is only a quaint one-story, 2-bedroom home.
Of course, it is just me and my husband. Now that our kids are grown and out there in the world creating their own futures and caring for their own families, we don’t need a lot of space. But, I wanted my dream home. Something that fit us and doesn’t cater to children (but still works when the grandkids come to stay. My husband and I spent many years dreaming of the day we could downsize and create our own space again. Last year, we finally did it.
Before we found our quaint little dream home, we purged. You see, we have five kids—so we had a lot of stuff. Luckily, most of the kids took their bedroom furniture and a few odds and ends, but the rest of it was purged in a neighborhood-wide yard sale. We offloaded trunks and side tables, a hutch (who really needs those, anyway?), oversized living room furniture, a few televisions, and countless books and DVDs (we kept the good ones).
When we moved into this little home, we only had one order of business to tend to: we wanted an outdoor patio that could hold the entire family and provide a great entertainment space for friends when we gather. The whole home is an open floorplan, which is just what we wanted. But, the kitchen space had no walk-out to the patio. I’m not sure why the previous tenants spent so much time and effort on creating the beautiful patio space they did without connecting it to the indoors. Good thing we relocated to San Clemente, CA, only a short drive from Priority Doors & Windows in San Diego.
You see, Priority offers bifold patio doors—a patio solution not every door installation company has. I’ve wanted this feature for years and we were so excited to work with them.
Only a few short weeks after we moved in and unpacked, we were in the Priority showroom making decisions. We chose to have a bifold patio door with six panels installed across 75% of the wall between the kitchen and the patio. Now, we enjoy panoramic views of our yard and the sunset whenever we want. And, it’s perfect for backyard barbeques and birthday parties for the grandkids. I love feeling so connected to our yard and outdoor space. I love watching my husband work in the yard and play fetch with our dog of 13 years. Most of all, I love our California dream home. All it took was a bifold door from Priority.
If you’re longing for your dream home, give Priority Doors & Windows a call. Their professionals are the most experienced and courteous I’ve ever seen. Cheers!
